Offline Downloads

Download media in a compatible Norri client, such as the iOS app, to play it without a connection to your server. The client saves complete media files on the device. The web app manages server settings and playlists; it does not save an offline library in your browser.

Server Settings

Sign in as an administrator, open Settings → General, and find Offline Downloads.

  • Allow downloads from this server controls new download preparation and transfers for all users.
  • Preparation cache limit (GiB) limits temporary prepared files on the server. The default is 20 GiB, shared by all users. Norri also keeps at least 1 GiB free.
  • Click Save download settings to apply changes.

Control individual accounts using the Downloads column in Settings → Users. Both the server and account must allow downloads. Changing these permissions does not remove files already downloaded to a device.

Prepared server files expire after 48 hours. That expiration does not apply to a completed copy on your phone. Lowering the preparation cache limit pauses further preparation until sufficient space becomes available; it does not immediately delete existing prepared files. Preparation yields to active video playback.

Choosing Content

Use the download controls in your client to choose content and quality. Available choices depend on the installed client version. Preparing a compatible file on the server may take time before the transfer begins.

Wait for the client to confirm that a download is complete before disconnecting from your server.

Playing Without a Connection

Open the client’s downloaded content to play completed copies without a server connection. Sign-in and local storage controls depend on the client. Check its download status before traveling.

Removing a download on the device is a separate action from changing the server’s preparation cache or download permissions.
