About Norri

Norri is a modern media server built for people who take their libraries seriously.

Why we built this

We love media servers. We've used Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, and others for years. But we kept hitting the same frustrations: cloud dependencies, sluggish performance with large libraries, poor Apple TV experiences, and privacy concerns.

Norri is our answer to those problems. A media server built from scratch with modern technology, designed for massive libraries, and completely self-hosted.

Our principles

  • Your data stays yours. No telemetry, no cloud accounts, no phoning home.
  • Performance matters. PostgreSQL database that handles 100,000+ items without breaking a sweat.
  • Native experiences. Real apps for TV, not wrapped web views.
  • No artificial limits. All server features included, no premium tiers.

How we make money

The Norri server is free—all features, forever. We don't believe in charging you to use your own hardware. No premium tiers, no subscriptions, no paywalled features.

Native apps for Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV, and mobile platforms are paid. Quality TV apps that work properly with remote controls take serious effort to build and maintain. App store fees, platform-specific development, ongoing updates—these have real costs.

We think this is fair. You pay for quality apps, not for features running on your own server. The web client is always free—if you prefer browser-based viewing, you can use Norri without paying anything.
