Naming Conventions

Norri works best when your media follows standard naming conventions.

Movies

Movies/
├── Movie Name (2023)/
│ ├── Movie Name (2023).mkv
│ ├── Movie Name (2023).en.srt

TV Shows

TV Shows/
├── Show Name (2020)/
│ ├── Season 01/
│ │ ├── Show Name - S01E01 - Pilot.mkv
│ │ └── Show Name - S01E02 - Episode Title.mkv
│ └── Season 02/
│ └── ...

A show folder can omit the year, such as Show Name/. Adding the first-air year helps distinguish shows with the same name.

For a difficult TV match, add a known provider ID to the show folder: {tmdb-12345}, {tvdb-67890}, or {imdb-tt1234567}. Use the ID for the series, not an episode or movie, and replace these examples with the actual ID. Keep the season and episode numbers in the filenames. See Media Matching for more detail.

Keep the album, album artist, track number, and title tags accurate inside the audio files. Norri uses these tags to group tracks and look up online metadata during import when enabled in the library’s settings. If the online provider is temporarily unavailable, the tracks can still be imported and played while Norri retries the album lookup automatically. You do not need to run another scan.
