What are Norri endpoints?

Norri audio endpoints are small, dedicated devices that turn any pair of speakers into a network-connected audio zone. They connect to your home network via WiFi or ethernet and receive audio from your phone, computer, or Norri media server.

Each endpoint runs a custom Linux image built specifically for reliable, always-on audio playback. There is no general-purpose operating system. The device boots directly into audio mode and is ready to play within seconds.

Devices

The initial Norri hardware range is based on the Raspberry Pi 3 platform with purpose-built audio HATs (hardware attached on top):

ProductDescription
Norri Amp v1Class D amplifier with built-in DAC. Drives passive speakers directly, no separate amplifier needed.
Norri DAC ProHigh-quality DAC with line-level outputs. Connects to an existing amplifier or powered speakers.
Norri Endpoint KitComplete kit with Raspberry Pi, DAC, case, power supply, and pre-flashed SD card. Ready to use out of the box.

All devices ship with a pre-flashed SD card containing the Norri audio endpoint software. No computer is needed for setup. Configuration is done entirely through a web browser on your phone.

Supported audio protocols

Every Norri endpoint supports multiple audio protocols simultaneously. You don’t need to choose one. They all work at the same time:

  • Sendspin is Norri’s own multi-room protocol for synchronized audio across multiple endpoints
  • AirPlay lets you stream from any Apple device (iPhone, iPad, Mac). Endpoints appear automatically in the AirPlay menu
  • DLNA / UPnP is supported by most media software and Android devices
  • Bluetooth for direct A2DP pairing from phones and laptops

Each protocol can be individually enabled or disabled through the web configuration interface.

How they connect

Norri endpoints connect to your network in two ways:

Plug in an ethernet cable and the device is on your network immediately with no configuration. If you’d rather use WiFi, the device creates a temporary Norri-Setup network on first boot. Connect from your phone to enter your home WiFi credentials.

Once connected, the device is accessible from any browser on your network at http://norri-amp.local (the address depends on the device name you set).

What you can configure

The web interface lets you:

  • Set a zone name (like “Kitchen” or “Living Room”) that appears across AirPlay, DLNA, and Bluetooth
  • Toggle individual audio protocols on or off
  • Manage WiFi connections, including switching networks and clearing saved credentials
  • Check which audio services are currently running
