Home Screen
The home screen is the first thing you see when you open Norri. It displays your media in horizontal scrolling rows, each showing a different category of content. You can customize which rows appear and their order.
Available Rows
Norri provides the following rows for your home screen:
| Row | What it Shows |
|---|---|
| Continue Watching | Movies and episodes you started but didn’t finish, plus the next episode in shows you’re watching. See Watch Status for details on how progress is tracked. |
| Recently Added Movies | Movies most recently added to your library, sorted by when they were scanned. |
| New Release Movies | Movies sorted by release date, showing the newest theatrical or digital releases first. |
| Recently Added TV Shows | TV shows most recently added to your library. |
| New Release TV Shows | TV shows sorted by their first air date, with the most recent first. |
| Recently Added Albums | Music albums most recently added to your library. |
| Recently Played Music | Albums you’ve listened to recently, sorted by last played. |
| Favorites | Your personal collection of favorited movies and TV shows. |
| Watchlist | Movies and TV shows you’ve added to your “watch later” queue. |
Rows only appear if they have content to display. For example, if you haven’t added any music libraries, the music rows won’t show even if they’re enabled.
Customizing Your Home Screen
Each user can customize their own home screen layout independently. Your changes don’t affect other household members.
Accessing Settings
- Open the sidebar and go to Settings > Home Screen
- You’ll see all available rows listed in their current display order
Reordering Rows
You can change the order rows appear on your home screen:
Drag and drop rows to reorder them, or use the arrow buttons on each row for precise positioning.
The row at the top of the list appears first on your home screen.
Enabling and Disabling Rows
Each row has a toggle switch. Turn it off to hide that row from your home screen. The row’s position is preserved, so if you re-enable it later, it will appear in the same place.
Saving Changes
Click Save to apply your changes. Click Reset to Default to restore the original row order and visibility.
How Rows are Selected
Norri determines which layout to show using a three-tier system:
- Your personal layout, if you’ve customized one
- The server admin’s default layout, if you haven’t
- Norri’s built-in default order, as a fallback
The settings page shows which layout is currently active (your custom layout, the admin default, or the built-in default).
Per-User Personalization
Home screen content is personalized for each user:
- Continue Watching shows your in-progress items, not other household members’
- Favorites and Watchlist show your personal lists
- Recently Played Music shows your listening history
- Row order and visibility are your own preference
The media content rows (Recently Added, New Releases) show the same content for everyone since they’re based on library data, not individual activity.
